25 Years and Counting - HIPAA, HITECH, Information Blocking and Beyond
It has been 25 years since the passage of HIPAA. Over the past few years, enforcement of the patient’s right to access health information has become a key focal point of the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights.
Our team will provide a refresher course for HIPAA and HITECH compliance personnel, and will expand into a summary and discussion of recently proposed HIPAA amendments. They will also provide an update on the status of the OCR’s Right to Access Initiative, along with a discussion of some of the 18 settlements obtained under the initiative over the past couple of years, and finally, summarize and discuss the 21st Century Cures Act Information Blocking rules.
