The rules for calculating overtime are due for a change according to the United States Department of Labor. On March 29, 2019, the Department issued a set of proposed regulations that address the calculation of the “regular rate” for overtime purposes. In what may feel like a flashback to many, the Department has also recently proposed a new set of regulations to increase the “salary basis” threshold for the “white collar” exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The Affordable Care Act brought with it a litany of changes to group health plans, some for the good and some for the bad. Small employers in general have experienced continual rate increases as well as a myriad of regulatory complexity. What many small employers aren’t aware of is the ACA’s provisions allowing for Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangements that permit applicable small employer’s to reimburse employees for coverage they purchase individually. This webinar will dive into the rules associated with such arrangements.

The impact of the June 21, 2018 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in South Dakota v. Wayfair will be felt by nearly every retailer and consumer. Removing the limitation means that nearly all catalog, online, and remote sales will have sales taxes collected by the retailer to be remitted to the proper jurisdictions, at least in states that impose a sales tax. For consumers, this means that the taxes will be the same on purchases made in brick-and-mortar stores and those made online. For retailers, the impact is much larger.
