Legislators and regulatory agencies are taking positions on Environments, Social, and Governance issues that could have an impact on banking practices in Nebraska. In this presentation for the 2023 Bank Investment, Funding, and Economic Outlook Conference sponsored by the Nebraska Bankers Association, Associate Kia Moore provided a foundational overview of what ESG is and discussed current trends in ESG policymaking in various industries. Associate Andrew Almodova then followed up with a discussion of proposed anti-ESG legislation, which, if adopted, would impact banking in Nebraska. Andrew further examined developments in climate-related risk management regulations adopted for large institutions and its potential impact on banking in Nebraska.
