It will provide (1) an overview of U.S. federal data privacy law, emphasizing privacy laws that would be likely to implicate families or children; (2) information on U.S. state data privacy laws, including the newly enacted California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, which may have an impact on your law practice; (3) takeaways for attorneys to ensure their law practice is compliant with data privacy rules and regulations; and (4) ethical requirements touching data security.
