During this session, we will explore the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Connelly v. United States (2024) and its impact on business succession planning and decisions regarding ownership of life insurance intended to fund a redemption at the death of an owner. The session will also discuss options to address situations where life insurance is currently owned by the business.

We will examine how these rights can be contractually modified or waived through a valid premarital agreement. Attendees will gain insight into premarital agreements as an important estate planning tool, particularly for clients who are business owners or have blended families.
